Reflection Question 2/28

If I posted this already, forgive me, but since I can't remember, here is goes again:

Do you believe that teens today are as promiscuous as they are portrayed in the media? Do you know the HIV statistics for U.S. teens? Research and post data that you find about teens and sexually transmitted STDs including the HIV infected. After posting data, discuss what percentage of American teens are truly promiscuous.

  1. It is estimated that there were 2.5 million people under 15 living with HIV in 2009,1 and that one third of all new HIV infections are among people aged 15-24.

Although 15–24-year-olds represent only one-quarter of the sexually active population, they account for nearly half (9.1 million) of the 18.9 million new cases of STIs each year.

Well....I wouldn't call most teens promiscuous. I think I would call them more curious above all else. Urges and lack of self esteem or sometimes even too much trust in a person causes them to not take the proper actions to find out if the person they may have relations with has some sort of infection. I think it's those promiscuous teens that first get some sort of disease and pass it on to the curious.
